I like to doodle. I doodle when I’m in meetings. I doodle when I’m on the phone. I find it helps my creativity.
I recently purchased Visual Thinking and it’s already giving me some cool ideas, especially when you need images for presentations. Now I’m thinking why not create my own?
Obviously it’ll depend on the topic and context but I may try it out for a future conference talk.
Regardless, I think there’s a lot of room for creativity in our field, especially when we are trying to convey complex and esoteric concepts and messages.
One area we do need to get a lot more creative is workshops, I’ve been in some really dry ones, frankly if you’re spending a good portion of your day in a workshop and it doesn’t add value and enthuse you then it’s just not right 🙂
Right, time to make my doodles meaningful. Eeek!
